Abstract and Hot Topic Deadlines

Extended deadline: 15.07.2020

Abstract Guidelines - Submission

The Scientific Committee recommends the submission of original scientific papers.

  • Abstracts can be submitted for posters or for oral communications or for both.
  • Abstracts that have been presented at a national or international congress during the last year, can be submitted again.
  • Abstracts that have been published in a journal cannot be submitted.
  • Abstracts that have been submitted at an earlier SHS or SPS cannot be submitted again.

Each abstract should be structured as follows, if applicable:

  • Language: Abstracts must be written in English.
  • Content: The content of the abstract is limited to 2'500 characters (title, authors' names and affiliation excluded) should be divided (if applicable) into
    • Background & Objectives
    • Material & Methods
    • Results
    • Conclusion
  • Authors: Please list all authors in the correct order.
  • Institutions of all authors: Please give full details of the author with company/institution, department, town and country.
  • Tables or graphics: cannot be inserted.
  • Acknowledgements and references can be added in a separate field below the abstract content. 
  • References should be indicated using the following format: author name, journal name, year of publication, volume, starting page, without manuscript title e.g., (Smith AG. et al. J Fant 2002:79:567).

Abstract Guidelines - Rating and Notification

The submitted abstracts will be reviewed and rated by members of the Scientific Committee after the submission deadline. If accepted, these abstracts will be proposed for oral presentation or as Poster.

The submitting author will receive notification of acceptance for Posters or oral communications in mid August 2020.

Hot Topic Guidelines - Submission

The Scientific Committee recommends the submission of hot topics contributions:

  • Language: hot topics must be written in English.
  • At least one author must be registered as a participant for the annual conference 2020.

Each hot topic should be structured as follows, if applicable:

  1. Title: If your hot topic contains a case report, please note this in the title.
  2. Content: This is not a research paper as the abstracts but is intended to describe and critically discuss an extremely topical issue on pain or headache. The content of the hot topic is limited to 2'000 characters including spaces and should be structured as follows:
    • Background & Objectives
    • Description
    • Conclusion
  3. Authors: Please list all authors in the correct order.
  4. Institutions of all authors: Please give full details of the author with company/institution, department, town and country.
  5. Tables or graphics: cannot be inserted.

Hot Topic Guidelines - Evaluation and Notification

Submitted hot topics will be evaluated by members of the scientific committee after the submission deadline. If accepted, these hot topics will be proposed for presentation during the Hot Topic & SIG session, if necessary.

Submitters will receive the notifications with the decision of the Scientific Committee in mid August 2020.

Abstracts - Award and Award Ceremony

  • SHS | SPS Best Poster Prize
    The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 01, 2020, 18:30h at the industrial exhibition.
